Coastal Retreat

Bruny Island Tasmania

Perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking Bull Bay sits this coastal retreat named Bruny Shore.

The design of Bruny Shore captures the dramatic environment, holding tight onto the steep rocky cliff and leaning out as far as possible towards the Bay overlooking the wild coastal environment.

Despite the main ocean views to Storm Bay oriented towards the East and South the house has been designed as a Passive Solar Design with a light timber framed construction, insulation and timber framed windows with double glazing to capture the sun from the North. Ample natural ventilation options and natural day lighting in each room connect the inhabitants directly to the natural environment. The careful siting provides expansive views in all directions - a courtyard provides shelter from coastal exposure and strong winds and the generous decks connect internal and external living spaces.

Reclaimed Tasmanian Timbers have been carefully crafted into the Interior Design by local Bruny Island craftsmen.

Bruny Shore has been built by Kane McLeod craftsman carpenter with custom timber joinery by Bernd Farasin.

Bruny Shore is available for rent as short term accommodation http://www.brunyshore.com.au/
