Carlton River House Tasmania
This modest timber framed home sits elevated on the bank of the Carlton River in South East Tasmania.
The careful siting for this Passive Solar Design provides great solar access to all living spaces, a thermal mass floor to harness solar gain, a well insulated shell, timber framed double glazed windows, natural ventilation, an abundance of natural daylight and sheltered outdoor living spaces with mesmerizing river views from all areas of the home.
The design of this home responds strongly to a number of climate challenges - strong winds, coastal inundation, erosion and bushfire whilst protecting our natural environment and sheltering its inhabitants from the elements.
